Harmonic 313 - No Way Out

Back in February 2009, Mark Pritchard released 'When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence' under the name of Harmonic 313. 313 being the area code for detroit, Pritchard bridges the US/GB gap with an acknowledgement and love for 'UK Bass music' as he puts it.

Caribou - Odessa (Beast Rave Remix)

Here is the Beast Rave rendition of Caribou's little gem. We thought we'd wait most of the year before deciding to remix this then take ages to blog it...

Anyway, a slightly more globular bass line, shit loads of slices and some additional kalimba later and here we have it.

Stripped down and very vocal. If you liked Caribou's "Jamelia" then it stands a good chance that you'll like Bonjay's version too...

Beast Rave - Vision (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Well well well.
Our friends over at Top Pocket Nuts have not only impressed us, they have thoroughly scared us with their despotic vision of the future which they have 'delicately' laid over our very own track 'Vision'.
Set in an uncertain future in which, indulging in the simple pleasures of virtual reality, amongst other things have been made illegal and are some what of a social taboo, we follow a VR addict in his lust for a bit of VR action as he pays the consequences for being such a dirty boy. After being taunted by the Keeper in VR land and chased down by the Future Police with his eyes standing two foot proud he awakens in the shower to find that it was all just a dream...

or was it...

Rachel Barton - Goose Step (Justin Martin Remix)

Its been far too long since our last post, but for good reason. The first Beast Rave official video is nearly ready to be released for your viewing pleasure, along with a tasty remix and brand new track. We're sticking to our policy of quality-not-quantity which works out nicely in our favour, so thats our excuses sorted. In the mean time, this one has been on the radar for a long time so we thought we'd talk it up having finally laid our claws on it. Justin Martin manages to offer what seems, at first, to be a delicate rework, re-shuffling the original melody only to well and truly pummel you with a horrific san-fran sub bass when you least expect it. Out on October 10th, get it. Wobble wobble...

Here is mark one, we'll keep it updated as we EQ it and tweak the samples a bit...

Chicks Dig Jerks present Hott Date - Hospital Bank Holiday Extravaganza - Sunday 29th August

For those of you who are unaware, serial party throwers Chicks Dig Jerks started way back in October 2002. In early 2007, in an attempt to amalgamate the many smaller/independent nights and 'room 2s' that were floating around, Hott Date was born.
Since the first Hott Date in May 2007 a loyal following has snow-balled, keeping constant vibes of friendliness, fun and
spontaneity bubbling.

As well as hosting a plethora of local
DJs such as Chicks Dig Jerks, ColdRice, Sugarfoot Stomp, Death at the Disco, Bang Bang!, Mosco Disco, Bleep Bleep, Naked Lunch, New Scotland Yard, Bigger Than Barry, Tuck Shop, Other Woman's Club, Vinyl Is, Beast Rave, New Jack City, Golden Trash, Jocko Homo, This Is Tomorrow and many more, Hott Date has also reached further afield bringing the likes of Brodinski, Kap Bambino, Metronomy, Riotous Rockers, The Mae Shi, Johnny Foreigner, and the Scarlet Harlots to the party!

Hott Date goers seemed to have developed a desire for dressing up. Acting on this Hott Date introduced themed nights!

The next
Hott Date party is taking place at the Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath on the 29th August starting at 3:00 pm. This Hott Date's theme - HOSPITAL, so get your Doctors and Nurses outfits on and maybe some fake (or real) blood and get yourselves down there this is going to be a party not to be missed!!!

Jockey's Whips

Released on
Prins Thomas' Full Pupp label "En Fin Tid" translates as A Happy Time and if you listen to this release you'll see why. Fusions of Italo house seem to go hand in hand with live instrumentation (which seems to be ever increasing in popularity), this combined with layers of analogue loveliness creates a dreamy aesthetic which doesn't make you want to be sick in your own mouth. In fact this release acts as yet another link in the Italo house chain. Here is "1987" for you to get a taster of what this release is all about.

Winner!

Diynamic music are coming up top trumps lately, first an unbelievable release in the form of Ost & Kjex's "Cajun Lunch", and now this from David August. Instant Harmony EP offers up four delicious servings of the deeper side of house music. "Instant Harmony" builds its way to a subtle drop through falling strings and guitar pickings and just keeps going. Another victory for David August. Winner!

Bee Quiet and Bee Have

We've been busy little bumble-bee bastards lately, and here is the evidence to prove it. Beast Mix 2 is an amalgamation of housey, disco(ish), cosmic tracks old and new and somewhere inbetween. Hope you enjoy it.

Beast Mix 2

1. Henrik Schwarz & Kuniyki - Once Again (Henrik's version)
2. Four Tet - Sing (Floating Points Remix)
3. Mano Le Tough - Baby, Lets Love
4. The Two Bears - Be Strong (Original Mix)
5. Mixmasters - In The Mix (Original Mix)
6. Woolfy - Oh Missy (Extended Mix)

Vision

Get your headphones out, we've got another Beast Rave Collective release for you. A progressive track working it's way through a plethora of bells and wispy backward-sucking lead synths to be met by a growling bass. Oh and a twist of a disco beat for good measure. Shuv this in your pipe/CD player and smoke it/play it.

Major Lazer - Lazers Never Die EP (Mad Decent; 2010)

More militant snare snappings from Diplo and Switch's global party project Major Lazer. Recorded at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, this release once again conveys elements of dub, hip-hop and reggae delivering a cocktail of rhythms for the soul. The release features five tracks including a Thom Yorke remix of "Jump Up". "Sound of Siren" featuring M.I.A is tipped to be the track of choice but we believe differently. Heres our pick of the bunch!

Enjoy
